Super Borovets Project
The Super Borovets Project has been designed to expand and update the already established winter sports resort of Borovets, set in the beautiful conservation area of the Rila Mountains.
The aims of the development is to successfully win Bulgarias bid to host the 2014 winter Olympics and to compete with established Alpine resorts in France, Austria and Switzerland as a top winter sports destination.
Super Borovets does not stop at winter sports activities, with nature walks, mountain bike trails, sports centres, swimming pools and 2 new championship golf courses, Super Borovets will be an all year resort catering for all tastes.
Beli Iskar and Local Attractions
Once the Super Borovets project begins, Beli Iskar will be officially connected to Borovets via road, ski runs and ski lifts. Additional facilities will also be added to Beli Iskar to turn this resort into an all year round holiday destination.
- All roads in the village to be improved. The main Beli Iskar-Borovets road is to be expanded and improved upon.
- Sports centres to be built. These will include an indoor snow stadium with the facilities for indoor sledging and ski runs.
- Entertainment facilities are to be produced such as cinemas, bars, restaurants etc..
- Many areas within and around the village have been marked for development, which will include luxury hotels, chalets and designer budget accomodation.
- Two large ski lifts are to be constructed to link the village to the town of Borovets.
- The Beli Iskar river is to be developed to make it more suitable for fishing and swimming. An eco trail is also to be developed along side it to encourage walking and cycling during the summer months.
- Local integration to be a central part of the development. Activities and courses to be set up so tourists can learn and take part in local Bulgarian arts and crafts. This will also include the creation of an Arts centre in Beli Iskar
